(Two food posts in a row — can you tell I’ve started cooking again?)

Today’s tip is so obvious I’m almost embarrassed to share it. But let’s face it, it’s not like that’s ever stopped me before!

I wanted to add more veggies to our diet, and was failing at it … until I had a lightbulb moment and started planning the meal around the vegetables instead of around the meat. I basically have meat preparation down pat, so I’ve been trying out new ways to prepare vegetables and it’s gotten me out of a kitchen rut.

Where do I get my recipes? Vegan and vegetarian cookbooks, of course! I bought turnips for the first time in my life, and they’re going to go into a soup. A soup! Made from turnips! It’s a brand new world…

I’ve got a yummy recipe for oven-baked, spicy turnip fries. Haven’t made ‘em in ages, your turnips have inspired me to dig it out again. Happy to share when I find it.
